Steve is a veteran commercial cannabis operator in Canada, bringing over 12 years of progressive experience building and directing legal cultivation and plant science operations for large publicly traded firms including Prairie Plant Systems/Cannimed, Emblem (now Aleafia), UP Cannabis, HEXO Operations Inc. and Redecan. Steve brings a clear and comprehensive vision of the challenges and opportunities facing today’s cannabis producers as they strive for profitability. This combined with his ability to communicate from shop to board-room floor with a compassionate, collaborative and people-first approach, uniquely positions Steve to drive insight and innovation from concept to commercialization for the benefit of our clients. Steve holds a BSC in Plant Biology (University of Guelph) and MSC in Environmental Science (University of Toronto) and has co-authored a variety of scientific journal articles on the genetic characterization of model plant species and commercial cannabis cultivars. As the CEO of Remix Genetics, Steve oversees all aspects of business strategy, operations and client services.

Dr. A.M.P. Jones

Dr. Jones holds a BSc in Plant Biology (University of Guelph), MSc in Plant Agriculture (University of Guelph), and a PhD in Biology (University of British Columbia). He has been studying medicinal plants for over 15 years and has held a cannabis research license since 2018. With over 25 peer reviewed scientific journal articles on various aspects of cannabis production, tissue culture, and micropropagation, Dr. Jones is a leading expert in cannabis biotechnology. He has pioneered cannabis tissue culture technique and is developing a variety of breeding technologies to support the industry including methods for the production and utilization of polyploids, embryo rescue techniques, improved feminized seed production, and expedited development of inbred lines. As the scientific advisor for Remix Genetics he provides access to cutting edge technologies and expertise to provide the best outcomes for our clients. Check out Dr. Jones research here.

Austin has a BSc in crop science from the University of Guelph and is currently a masters student at the University of Guelph studying under Dr. Jones. Austin developed the strain “Higher Education” while refining our protocol used for the development of tetraploid and triploid strains. Austin has experience publishing research focusing on biotechnology and breeding in cannabis as well as experience as an ACMPR grower. While at the University of Guelph Austin founded the Cannabis Growers Club where he shared his passion for cannabis cultivation and research with the community. This club would bring together home growers in an open space to discuss their passion for growing cannabis. Austin has a passion for cannabis breeding and increasing access to high quality cannabis genetics with-in the legal Canadian system. Check out Austin’s research here.
